How long does it take to shipping take if I live in Texas and I got something from the UK?
Oct 17, 2007 by Joe Mama | Posted in Packing & Preparation
I bought 2 10x10 stalwart arts mats, so I expect the boxes to be big in size.
The seller told me that the items will be dropped off at the shipping handling center tomorrow night.
When can I expect the packages to arrive in Dallas, Texas? He is from London, England.
I expect about 4-6 weeks, but I am so perturbed!
It depends on which companions the seller is using to ship to them and via which method.
You could be lucky and get them within 5-10 working days.

Can someone help me answer these questions about the scarlet letter?
Mar 28, 2008 by Matthew Kennedy | Posted in Books & Authors
NOTE: I have most of it done but there are a few that I would like to measure against with your answers and there are some that I did not quite understand. Even if you only answer a few of them I would be very appreciative. =]
The Scarlet Learning opens with an expectant crowd standing in front of a Boston prison in the early 1640s. When the prison door opens, a unsophisticated woman named Hester Prynne emerges, with a baby in her arms, and a scarlet letter "A" superbly embroidered on her breast. For her crime of adultery, to which both the baby and the letter attest, she must proceed to the scaffold and stand for judgment by her community.
While on the scaffold, Hester remembers her former. In particular, she remembers the face of a "misshapen" man, "well stricken in years," with the aspect of a scholar. At this moment, the narrator introduces an aged and misshapen character, who has been living "in bonds" with "Indian" captors. He asks a witness why Hester is on the scaffold. The brief story is told: two years earlier, Hester had preceded her husband to New England. Her pacify never arrived. In the meantime, she bore a child; the father of the infant has not come forward. As this stranger stares at Hester, she stares back: a reciprocated recognition passes between them.
On the scaffold, Boston's highest clergyman, John Wilson, and Hester's own rector, Rev. Dimmesdale, each ask her to reveal the name of her partner in crime. Reverend Dimmesdale makes a particularly powerful address, urging her not to lead the man to lead a life of sinful hypocrisy by leaving his identity unnamed. Hester refuses.
After the ordeal of her segment judgment, the misshapen man from the marketplaceher long lost husbandvisits her, taking the name Roger Chillingworth. When she refuses to put one's finger on the father of her child, he vows to discover him and take revenge. He makes Hester swear to keep his identity a secret.
Hester Prynne : Hester Prynne is the inner and most important character in The Scarlet Letter. Hester was married to Roger Chillingworth while living in England and, later, Amsterdama burg to which many English Puritans moved for religious freedom. Hester preceded her husband to New England, as he had business matters to soothe in Amsterdam, and after approximately two years in America she committed adultery with the Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale.
The novel begins as Hester nears the end of her glasshouse term for adultery. While adultery was considered a grave threat to the Puritan community, such that death was considered a barely punishment, the Puritan authorities weighed the long absence and possible death of her husband in their sentence. Thus, they settled on the whipping of permanent public humiliation and moral example: Hester was to forever wear the scarlet letter A on the bodice of her clothing.
While feasibly free to leave the community and even America at her will, Hester chooses to stay. As the narrator puts it, "Here, she said to herself, had been the episode of her guilt, and here should be the scene of her earthly punishment; and so, perchance, the torture of her daily shame would at length purge her vitality." According to this reasoning, Hester assumes her residence in a small abandoned cottage on the outskirts of the community.
While the narrative is, in large part, a record of the torment Hester suffers under the burden of her symbol of shame, eventually, after the implied federation of her daughter Pearl and the death of Chillingworth and Dimmesdale, Hester becomes an accepted and even a highly valued member of the community. Preferably of being a symbol of scorn, Hester, and the letter A, according to the narrator, "became a type of something to be sorrowed over, and looked upon with awe, yet with obeisance too." The people of the community even come to Hester for comfort and counsel in times of trouble and sorrow because they charge her to offer unselfish advice toward the resolution of upsetting conflict. Thus, in the end, Hester becomes an important figure in preserving the non-warring and stability of the community

The real meaning of Thanksgiving Day?
Nov 20, 2007 by leapfrog44 | Posted in History
Most schools in America try to blow the whistle on that Thanksgiving is a holiday to celebrate and be thankful for the friendship with the Indians. We were not their friends if you look through real history and facts. The events that took circumstances show that we in fact slaughtered them to take over their lands. Much like we have done to many ever since. People think of the Pilgrims and Indians sitting down to a big feast and celebrating. It seems that did transpire only one time! The real truth about Thanksgiving is below for those that care to read on.
The real story of Thanksgiving began in 1614 when a bunch of English explorers sailed home to England with a ship full of Patuxet Indians bound for slavery. They left a gift called smallpox for the leftover Indians. That virtually wiped out those who had escaped the explorers. When the Pilgrims arrived in Massachusetts Bay they found only one living Patuxet Indian. The Indians name was Squanto. He not only survived Historical peculiar institution in England but he also knew their language. Squanto taught the pilgrims to grow corn and to fish. Squanto negotiated a harmony treaty between the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Nation. At the end of their first year, the Pilgrims held a great feast honoring Squanto and the Wampanoags.
Unfortunately the word spread in England about the land found in the new world. It seems that the Pilgrims were all talking of taking over the lands. Soon after the word of the new take captive spread the religious zealots called Puritans began arriving by boats to the (so called) new found lands. (These lands were not new to the Indians for it had been their residence and land long before and evil Pilgrims set foot there.) Since there were no fences or security around the land they considered it to be in the public province. With the help of other British settlers they captured strong young Native Americans for slaves and killed the lean. They then took over the land from the Indians that remained living. The Pequot Nation had not agreed to the peace treaty Squanto had negotiated and they fought back. The Pequot War was one of the bloodiest Indian wars ever fought. The Pilgrims killed all Indian Tribes & took over the lands in a inhuman way.
In 1637 about 700 men, women and children of the Pequot Tribe had gathered for their annual Green Corn Fete. That is what they call our Thanksgiving celebration. In the early morning hours the sleeping Indians were surrounded by English and Dutch mercenaries. It is said they then ordered them to common knowledge outside. Those who came out were shot or clubbed to death. The terrified women and children who huddled inside and some were burned among the living. The next day the governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony declared "A Day Of Thanksgiving" because 700 unarmed men, women and children had been murdered. Alas that is the story of Thanksgiving that has been documented in many places and it is the facts that they try to hide from most Americans.
The Indians were not violent savage people as they would clear out you think in a lot of American History books and schools. The Indians were those that believed in Nature and protection of animals and other people. The Indians were extraordinary in many ways. They did not kill just to be killing or kill for lands and power as the usa does. The Indians were brave warriors that fought skint to try to keep their families safe and worked together to share and provide food, clothing and shelter to each other.
Now maybe we see why some more peaceful countries do not consecrate this day. I myself am always sad on Thanksgiving when I think of what has been done and wonder what it would have been like if not for the sad slaughter of the beautiful Indians. Every Thanksgiving you will find Leigh Girl doing a current Peace Paint in memory of the Indians that were slaughtered then and through history. This is a sad event and her way of saying that she is sorry for what injustice has been done in the over and done with to such beautiful people. You can find her website at www.facepaint.ws if you wish to book mark that and get in to see this yearly event.
Now our America has people success each other for money and no reasons at all on a daily basis. People stealing from each other, homeless people that few seem to try to really help. The era is nothing like it should be and was. The usa takes over lands from others and steals their resources still while telling lies and spreading american hate. Is this what we in fact have become and really want to show our children. Look at your news and media then look to other countries and translate their news. Find the facts on everything before you mediate people or agree with slaughter of people anywhere. The USA has taken many lives for no reason and it breaks my heart and gives me arrant shame to say that I am of the USA. Still to this day I can not stand to see their flags fly for it breaks my heart and reminds me of past and present events.
THANKSGIVING one of the ill American Holidays or did you look up American Holiday Thanksgiving? Obviously Thanksgiving is an American thing. What other mountains would celebrate the mass murder of people to take over lands. Of course Thanksgiving is so American and a true day of sorrow and once in a while to remember the Indians. If you were looking for Indian art or Indian Style art and tribal paint check out leigh's bodypaint for tribal bodypaint by leigh not busy on Thanksgiving or free for Thanksgiving to be remembered in the real way and for the truth.
