Which is a better inexpensive rifle in a .243? a Remington 710 or a New England Firearms Handi-Rifle?
It's wealthy to be used as a varmint rifle and spare deer rifle for a couple of friends who hunt with me and don't own guns. Also, I be in want of something that would be a good rifle for my niece to start with next year.
Speculator of the two, Remmington. I would bump that up to a 30-30 for deer though.
I purchased a New England Firearms .243 handi rifle w/youth stock for my daughter(she's 12).?
Shes like to go hunting with me and i vision this deer season would be a good time to teach her how to do it. Anybody else ever purchase one of these, and how do you seem to like or dislike it. I put a 3x9 x40 scope on it for here and laser dig out sighter first and then took it to the range to sight it in at 100 yds. I must say it seems like a fairly decent little gun. Though it does have some backlash(of course she thinks it wants to break her arm off, but she is using remington 80 grain soft point rounds.

Answer master dude: I take them both my son(he's 11 now) and my daughter. I just alternate days when i take one or the other. Not both at the same ever .LOL Not yet. Couple more years before i do that. Now if i get their grandpa to go. I'll take them both. Even though now they are both hunter education certified i want them both to go hunting with me under direct supervision by me for two more years.
vegaswoman: Don't irk dear, we eat them. Plus it helps with conservation management. And that's something i really do enjoy.
Last year i donated 200lbs of base deer to the share the harvest program we have here. I got 5 of them this last year.
Not onlt that its good for the kids to learn how to harvest the unimpeachable way. Sort of a lost art anymore.
That and to teach them sound conservation methods.

I was surprised as well with hers. Its a strict shooting little gun.
Did you notice the weight of them? Pretty heavy!! Thats part of the reason i got that for her because i figured it would offer her a spot better stability. And it did!!!
As far as No.3(the oops(jk) and 3rd special hunting partner) I have a few years to wait for him. he was born July1st of this year. He's up to 14 lbs now. Already growing like a weed.

Flounderdagreat: Thanks for your input, but i've never been deep down big on high pressure salesmen. Try easing up a little. You'll sell a hell of a lot more that way.

I bought one once it was in 30/30.
I was surprised, on even-handed how well it shot.
I must confess I bought it from a guy at work and the only reason I bought it, was because it had a very high dollar Leupold scope on it, I wonted the field.
I paid $125.00 for the package and took off the scope and replaced it with a very cheap Tasco.
But decided to play with it first ethical to see how well it shot before I sold or traded it off,
If it had of been any other caliber, I might of keep it because it shot so well.
Well 2 month later I took it to a gun show, and damned if a man did not offer me a cherry Ruger MK II goal pistol straight across for the 30/30 New England with the Tasco scope.
That was the last I saw of the little 30/30, but it did shoot very well.
You daughter should do well with it.
Sounds like you got your self a specific little hunting partner, that what hunting is all about.

I started my son at 7 hunting, now he 28 and we still trail together every year.
I have a friend that has 2 boys the same age, I take one while he takes the other.
The only down side was I wish he had of been there when Todd shot his first deer.
But I did take a bunch of pictures of Todd and the deer.
My bird had just taken his other son back home to get something he had for got at home( Ammo).

I have recently purchased a 20 litmus test, breech load, single shot.
Is this a good firearm? Was it a good price - under $100.00?
Yes, If it was under a $100 then it was a honourableness buy. Usualy they go for around $85. I have a 20ga and a 12ga.
To be honest, I havn't even shot mine yet. The 12g was given to me and looked like king kong salivate it out. I have redone it and it looks real nice now. The 20g I gave $80 for from a friend. I am looking to collect the whole NEF collection of them. Competent luck with it and be safe.
How can a person legally own firearms in England?
If I wanted to have a 9mm handgun and a Smith&Wesson MP-15 in England. What would I trouble to do in order to have those? A picture of the S&W is in the link here.

I don't distinguish how old it is....but it just sits in the garage and I want to sell it and make a profit.

Not much. NEF firearms were on the low end of reduced to begin with and desirability is near nonexistant. That 30$ guess above isn't too far off-base.
The question I have is, you refer to the gun as "your dad's".
If he's not dead, inoperative, or incarcerated, it still is his.
