The Geological Source

Bath spa water cut as rain up to 10,000 years ago on the nearby Mendip hills. Driven down though carboniferous limestone cave systems by urging from the high water table on the Mendips, the water has reached depths of 2 to 3 kilometres.

The water penetrates overlying strata of impenetrable Lias clay through fissures and a fault to rise at three points in Bath. The greatest source is the King’s Bounce. Here the flow is 13 litres per second of 1,106,400 litres (c. 250,000 gallons) per day. The water temperature is 46 degrees C (115 degrees F).

The Mineral Constituents

There are 43 minerals in the water. Calcium and sulphate are the main dissolved ions with sodium and chloride also prominent. The water is low in dissolved metals except for iron which gives the characteristic iron staining around the baths and contributes to the waters individual flavour. The mineral content is 2.18 grammes per litre.

whats the best product to use to clean a bath? England?

Its an enamel bath and it's got these scope in old soap scummy stains. We have tried using washing powder with enzymes and left it to soak overnight but that didn't occupation. Does anyone have any hints tips they could give us, as our landlady is too tight to buy us another one!! Bear in mind we live in the UK, so can only get UK products.

They are always using lemon vitality and viniger on How Clean is Your House and they have some really minging bathrooms on there. When I first moved into my flat I used alcasaltzer to neat out the loo so that might work, it unblocks sinks to!

Virtuous after peoples opinions. I like it alot, i live nearby.
If you really take your time to walk around Bath, you can find some really likeable decent bars and restaurants.

What do you think of it?

Hmm, its alright but I in the flesh think its overrated! There are so many places like it but better ie. York.

What are the nicer (or nicest) areas of Bath, England to live in?

My girlfriend lives in Bristol and I like Clifton there, but would be partial to to live in Bath; what is Bath's equivalent to Clifton (the nicest part of the city- at least in my opinion), and how long would it take to drive between the two cities?

The maximum effort areas of Bath are those around Landsdown although this is also the most expensive, other areas nearby which are good are Weston and Lower Weston.

For more 'unorthodox' style living try Walcot. Other areas worth considering are Coombe Down, Widdecombe and Bathwick. However dont knock off the less posh areas such as Lower Bristol Road which are convenient for the city centre.

As others have said driving between the two cities takes around 30 minutes but can take up to an hour depending on which bits you call for to go to and the state of the traffic. Train is around 15 minutes.

Your choice of area is going to be determined more by what you can afford but I dare say you should choose locations on the Bristol side of Bath if thats where you will be going..
