Which Borough has the worst shopping facilities in Greater London?
Feb 06, 2007 by stephen d | Posted in London
I've visited most and I'd have to say that Sutton community centre is complete pants. Plus there is no where else in the Borough worth bothering with. Any other suggestions?
Hmm, Croydon has Monstrous shopping. Probably Waltham Forest.

How do I get a council flat in Greater London in exchange for one in Greater Manchester?
May 21, 4811 by Mister Big | Posted in Other - Politics & Government
I have a two-bed RTB conference flat in Greater Manchester. I need to be move to London to be near family but cannot afford private sector rents there. I am quite cock-a-hoop to relinquish my current council flat. How would I go about getting one in a London borough, particularly Barnet, Bexley, Bromley or Redbridge? I dire to move by mid August.
Sublet your peremptory in Manchester, ( rent out your old flat and use the money for your new place).

A village atmosphere in a London borough?
Apr 25, 2008 by feminainluna | Posted in London
I might be going to London soon. While I am most excited about being near London, the shops and sights and crowds, I do not want to live in a big city. I'll be working in one of the Northeast boroughs and would turtle-dove suggestions on finding a safe, affordable (hah!) place to live that has more of a villagey feel instead of a big city appear. I love green spaces and water, so any suggestions there would be great!!
Thank you!
Many definitions of "affordable" will put you face the M25, and London than becomes a commuting destination.
And a nice "villagely feel" is in demand, and prices go accounting. "Green" and a tube link to London is on a lot of shopping lists
Your options will depend greatly on the send links to where exactly you'll be working. Public transport and car driving both have their frustrations.
If you start looking at Hainault or Epping, you'll get a note of what's possible that close in (15-20 miles from "The City")

When driving into London, information notices will say ........miles to London.?

Does this connote the centre of London, or you have reached the outskirts of the Greater London Borough.
Distances to and from London are leisurely from The Charring Cross
Add; to the guy below, the original Charring Cross was at Trafalgar Square and I believe it is that location that is still used (there is a pin on the floor) so you're also right.
