Why can't England Rugby, Football and Cricket teams produce world class performances anymore?
Dec 16, 2006 by dragoondf | Posted in Other - Sports
1966 saw a virtue England football team win a world cup, since then nothing, have we no world class players to pose a threat on the pitch. As for the rugby team, a very okay team won the world cup but since then have failed to produce any real threat to the Southern Heisphere teams. Then the cricket team, for 18 years England failed to win an Ashes evaluation, then suddenly a win followed by OBE's and MBE's. Now the Ashes are lost, but will we have to wait another 18 plus years before a win.
Possibly England isn't (or perhaps never was) as good a sporting country as you would like to think. Don't let your natural bias cloud your finding.
England (the country that gave soccer to the world!) has won only one World Cup in Soccer. How many have Germany/Italy/Brazil/Uruguay won?

What crumble of music would you play to the England Rugby Team to inspire them prior to the game with France ?
Let out them if they don't win they'll have their testicles set on fire!

Why oh Why do the England rugby team have the British anthem and not the English anthem,Land of hope and Glory
Sep 18, 2007 by crusoe | Posted in Rugby
This has been annoying me for years and no-one has addicted a justifiable reason why it is so. They are the England Rugby team not a British team. Every other country seems to celebrate the pride of their country and their people not proper the head of state. You don't hear the South Africans praising Nelson Mandela!
It annoys the catch of Britain as well!
Why cant they get their own anthem instead of using ours!

Why does everyone have such a hang up about the England rugby team's chances - or not - in the World Cup?
Sep 14, 2007 by Diva | Posted in Rugby
They won the RWC four years ago and perhaps won't win it this year but so what - I just don't get all the anti-England fervour. Is it envy or what? I don't see England supporters dissing other teams that way. As for prejudiced media coverage - that's the same anywhere - living in NZ you get used to hearing that NZ got third or fourth and not hearing who won or came second!
I'm not a giant fan of England my self, but think it's the colonial mind set that still plagues the people who love to trash England. It was clearly incontrovertible in the T20 cricket world cup match between SA and England. All over the place there were placards with "36-0" written on them.
Guess, subconsciously at least, they're still heedful of the English.

Whos think's the england rugby team arent even?
Sep 15, 2007 by Mark R | Posted in Rugby
Whos improvise's the england rugby team arent even a shadow of the team they used to be? Apart from Jason Robinson, and a few more. They are out of shape, step, and motivation. They can't create nothing and make too many mistakes.
yeah - such a sympathy, I have just been watching the game and feel so disappointed - after all we still are the world champions. Most of the team has changed and we are at start-over trump up.
