Why is it statistically speaking, there is such a shoratge of male primary school terachers in great britain?
Jan 05, 2007 by PaulC | Posted in Primary & Secondary Education
Statistics show that there is a theatrical shortage of male primary school teachers, leaving a lack of male role models for children today.
i of there are several factors at work here---
1. MONEY MONEY MONEY... teachers just don't make the same amount of bucks as other professions. Men want to be the "bread" winners in the family, and teaching doesn't always deduct the lifestyle that people want.
2. Teaching is not a very masculine career choice. I think there is some Male code about teachers being women. Very likely because historically there haven't been many men in the profession. It's been seen as "women's work". (wiping noses, tying shoes, caring for a stricken student these tend to be seen as women's work)
3. In a typical elementary classroom, there are many hugs exchanged from students to teachers. A boy falls, you give them a hug. SOmeone gets their feelings hurt, you give them a hug. A child does well or improves a score, you hug them. I know several men who are very afraid to hug a teenager who isn't their's for fear of lawsuit. Kind of sad isn't it?
But I agree, a lot of children are growing up with out positive masculine role models. We have mentoring programs after school that gets the males into the building. However, until teachers are paid for their "professionalism" such as doctors and lawyers and accountants, it moral will not pull in the male interest.

Is this a problem for Great Britain?
Dec 12, 2007 by Den | Posted in Current Events
I was looking at some statistics earlier about the standing of divorce in the UK.
The UK has a divorce rate of 132,562 couples in 2006. This is high.
this trend is set by celebs getting married, having kids and then divorced (Britney Spears).
The downside to this is that the kids end up spoilt. And skedaddle a appeal to into hoodies who hang out late night causing mischief. A friend of mine had been put in hospital a year ago cos of being hit by a motor bike after being pushed into the entr by a 'hoodies' gang.
Now this in turn will affect us - cos if the kids are going off rails, who will look after Great Britain when we are old. The kids are the tomorrow's. Now obviously not all kids are like this but there appears to be lots of pressure on kids today - lots of teens become at the crack parents and the girl usually ends up in a council flat without the father.
Do you think this is a problem for Great Britain in the future?
Heres the dissolve article

thanks for the info michelle - does that mean no one in Britain supports her or likes her?
you bet it is.

how is the national health care in Great Britain, New Zealand, Australia, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway,?
Nov 23, 2007 by andyroxs111 | Posted in Other - Politics & Government
Okay, I'm on the careful thought team in my school and I'm doing a debate whether we should have national health care in the U.S, he assigned me and my partner to be con, so my collaborator is discussing statistics and the financial issue and I'm talking about other countries health care and the negative aspects of them. Can someone politely aver me the bad things about the national health care on the countries above.
Ive been studying this topic since Hillary and her failed attempt to induce socialized health care here in the USA. From what i have gathered the level of watch over in countries that have some form of socialized health care the level of care runs from very poor to just average. Doctors and nurses are underpaid and hospitals are extremely understaffed and there is a severe shortage of health care professionals. The waiting lists for significant care are long even heart attack victims are merely "stabilized" and then sent peaceful to "rest". People in Britain are pulling their own teeth and visiting holistic healers a substitute alternatively of waiting weeks and months for simple procedures. Canadians are coming to the USA for routine procedures such as childbirth and natal safe keeping. Many of these countries are considering scaling back and cutting health care benefits because the costs are staggering.-----And that brings up another put the costs to taxpayers are just that STAGGERING!!!!! Many of these countries have a tax rate exceeding 50% and their economies are polluted and in decline and unemployment is high. Why work when the government provides all you need?-------One more major point. Name me proper one government run agency that does its job efficiently and effectively. The IRS, Medicare and Medicaid, Amtrak, Welfare name one thats not a leave on the taxpayers pocket. And now you want government run healthcare?

Why does the Office of National Statistics imply that Muslim are a drain on Benefits?
Feb 02, 2007 by Abdul | Posted in Religion & Spirituality
It has stated, unemployment rates for Muslims are higher than those for people from any other belief and Muslims in Great Britain had the highest rates of reported ill health in 2001, with above average birth rates.
http://www.statistics.gov.uk
They are completely implying that a lot of muslims are on benefits. This is blatant islamaphobia and only leads to hatred of muslim and should be removed. What about white people winsome benefits? where is this statistic?
Never determine about "islamaphobia" - they are simply stating the facts, whether you like it or not

What effects will an increase in rainfall have on Britain?
Dec 01, 2008 by Joe | Posted in Geography
The statistics show rainfall is on the come up. What effects will this happen to the people, the land and the wildlife? Who and where will suffer from it in particular?
I'm basically doing a big project on the changes in mood of Britain and it's effects, and help on rainfall would be great;y appreciated :)
What statistics, Joe?
Don't take me injure, I live in Norway and from my mountain hut, during the past 30 years, I have see the glacier recessing and the trees grow taller: the extensive warming is a fact.
But, as you know, global warming is noticed near the poles and not the equator. Then I must ask: What makes more precipitations? It must be the rising and condensing of moisture in the air, fairness? At our latitudes, it happens along the polar front where moist and mild temperate air meets cold and dry polar air. But it is the difference of temperature and not the supreme one that is the energy used to create bad weather.
As you know, the storms of the winter are stronger than the storms of the summer. That is because, in the winter, when the north end is in a constant night, the temperature is much colder than during the summer. But at the equator, the temperature remains pretty much the same around the year. Also: The conversion of temperature is greater during the winter.
So, if the poles get warmer and only the poles, won't that create milder winters with less unfathomable low pressures, less wind and ... less rain?
I don't know, you're doing a project, you must know a lot about the feel. I am only asking this: Why does the Norwegian fishery minister asks for more money to help the fishermen to build stronger boats that can kisser the storms of the future?
You know, climate researchers live from ... research and good news doesn't mention money to their projects.
This being said, the global warming will bring changes and we don't know exactly what and how and that, in itself, is spooky enough.
