How does the government education system in Great Britain sustain itself?
Nov 07, 2007 by harryd | Posted in Primary & Secondary Education
Judging from scanty I've heard about it they share some of the same problems that American public (government) schools have,i.e. rampant discipline problems, students uninterested in becoming cultured due to immersion in pop culture, etc. Is the school system supported by tax revenues and if so, is there a program for sharing that tax money with parents who want to send their children to reticent schools? In the US we call it a voucher program. Does GB have the same problem?
Nope, you pay the strict same taxes in the UK regardless of whether your child goes to public or private school. And, indeed, if you don't have any children at all.

What passes for education in Great Britain?
Apr 14, 2007 by watchman | Posted in Politics
I catch on to that British schools have dropped education dealing with the Holocost out of fear of angry Muslems!!
Are you going to allow those goffballs to rewrite story??
Neddie...that is not a good argument!
Don't you care?
Yes, they also gave up fox hunting, gun ownership, cash punishment and having a spine, apparently.
A better question: what passes for courage in Great Britian?
They lack the guts to position up to Isamofascism

info re Ladies Humane Education Society - 1874 in Great Britain?
Dec 24, 2006 by ALAN Vico | Posted in Other - Society & Culture
By any chance existed in the area around Wilmslow Chesire where there is an extremely long (Horse Trough ?) now used as a floret bed, which is engraved with the above details
1. Humane education refers to teaching organism welfare. Humane (related to animal welfare) is terminology which is used more in USA, where there exist the National Humane Education Upper classes and the Humane Society of the United States.
http://www.nhes.org/
http://www.hsus.org/
2. However, I think I have found the successor to the Ladies Humane Education Beau monde.
a) Humane Education Society (Council For Protection Of Animals) - registered charity no. 207513. According to the dirt on the Charity Commission website, it was founded in 1927. The address for the organisation's contact is in Altrincham, Cheshire.
http://www.humanitarianism-commission.gov.uk/registeredcharities/showcharity.asp?remchar=&chyno=207513
b) As further indication that this is, indeed, a successor organisation, the listing in the following website shows that the Humane Education Way of life has an animal convalescent home in Wilmslow.

3. If you wished to get confirmation and/or more details of the earlier "ladies" organisation, then you might have a mind to contact the organisation yourself. I suspect that the charity has recently undergone a radical downsizing, as a result of some problems. According to the knowledge on the Charity Commission webpage, in 1999 the charity spent £89k and in 2000 £105k (with income of £124k and £165k, mutatis mutandis). In comparison, the accounts for 2005 show radically reduced expenditure of £2k and income of £50k (with the accounts for the intervening years having been submitted exceedingly late or not at all).

What do I need to get a free education in Europe?
Sep 22, 2008 by elf | Posted in Higher Education (University +)
My Achates and I are considering doing a trip to Europe for our senior year. I heard that since Europe is so socialistic, people there get without higher education (college/university). I was wondering if it were possible to get free university education in some country in Europe (Great Britain preferred, due to their lingua franca) and what kind of status do I need to attend a university? What countries will let me do that?
Thanks in advance, gneek.
