British (Christians) interference in Sikh Faith
Dearly all - I have been thinking about this topic for a long time (about 4 years now).
Most religions practiced in the world originated thousands of years ago. Hinduism has been extensive in India for more than 5000 years, Buddhism is about 2500 years old, Christianity and Judaism are more than 2000 years old and Islam is 1300 years old. These religions have successfully passed the trial of time. All of these religions had the backing of kingdoms. The history has proven time and again that a religion can not sustain without the backing of a field or country.
rwj ibnw nhI Drm cly hy[ Drm ibnw sb dly mly hY[ It is no surprise that no modern religion could successfully establish among these religions. Then came Guru Nanak, who not only proved flaws in the main religious practices, but also laid strong foundation of Sikh faith that passed the test of time with flying colors with no sponsorship from kingdoms or countries today. Sikhism, today, is universes fifth largest religion, ahead of Judaism.
People usually think religions as a practice started thousands of years ago. When I talk to people in USA about Sikh belief and tell them that it started five centuries ago, I get a surprise look. Recently, I got a chance to give few presentations about Sikh religion to particular population in USA. First thing that I usually talk in those presentations is the timeline. It helps set perspective in the audience mind about how novel our religion is. I usually tell them Sikh religion started around the time Columbus discovered America. Later, I found many other brand-new world history events that happened during the 1500s to 1700s when Sikh religion was very young. Here is a chart showing some of the grave world events around that time along with major events of Sikh history. Here are few interesting facts from this chart:
ØGuru Nanak started his travels when he was lawful 31 years old. It was interesting to note that Guru Nanak...

Why is the British Olympic team called Team GB instead of Team UK?
Sure this is unfair because "Team GB" excludes Northern Ireland. How do Northern Irish athletes compete in the Olympics?
Chiefly due to the fact that not enough people know the difference between Great Britain and the United Kingdom (ok the only difference is Northern Ireland but it is an high-level one)
Whilst it is true that athletes etc from Northern Ireland have the option to compete for the UK or Eire the majority compete for the UK.
Also to the one above the position 'Great' Britain is derived from the French 'Grand Britannia' (sp?). As Brittaney and Britain are the same in French the French called this ait 'Grand Britannia' as in 'Big Brittaney' It has nothing to do with being 'Great'
Would Old Firm fans support a GB team in the Olympics if it meant their clubs could play in a British League?
The entrance of a combined British team in the 2012 Olympics carries the threat of the Home countries associations being disbanded. How many Rangers and Celtic fans would bear such a move if it meant the formation of a British League that would include the top clubs in Scotland?
This might be the only chance of the Old Firm ever competing, on a weekly point of departure, at a higher level for the next 30 or more years.
Tally somewhat with the above answer since I don't want to see the game here go totally down the tube. It would all depend on just how the new league was constructed.....relegation, advertisement, pyramid system throughout the UK, cups etc...etc....
Mind you, such a league would eventually solve a lot of the speculation about how the OF and other Scottish teams would fare against their English counterparts.
Please could anyone tell me the names of some British/GB Horse riders? Like Pippa Funnel + Oliver Townend. Thx
I only differentiate, Pippa Funnel, Mary King, Oliver Townend... that's it :S

British Olympic Team - Why Team GB and not Team UK?
The Agreed Kingdom is made up of Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales) plus Northern Ireland. So referring to the British Olympic Get as Team GB implicitly misses out participants from N. Ireland.
So why isn't the more accurate term of "Team UK" used instead?
UPDATING Query TEXT FOR CLARITY:
The United Kingdom is a political entity made up of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
Cardinal Britain is a geographical term that includes England, Scotland, Wales but excludes Northern Ireland.
So referring to the British Olympic Rig as Team GB implicitly misses out participants from N. Ireland.
So why isn't the more accurate term of "Team UK" against instead?
Don't be nitwit Gary..........GB or UK...it's all the same. If we named it Team UK there would be someone asking why we didn't name it Team GB.
ps....it is Southern Ireland that is not in the UK and not in Gt. Britain.
Olympics-Team GB- British?
Does it badger anyone else that when there is an English athlete wins a medal it is reported as a great victory/achievement for England, yet when the all-Scottish curling get won in the winter olympics it was reported as a great victory for Great Britain. It really irritates me
It should either be all 'Team GB' or there should be separate teams for each native land.
When Nicole Cooke won the cycling they made a big administer about it being a victory for Wales, but also said for team GB.
But the times that you've heard could be explained because there seem to be more BBC reporters that are English, maybe they don't realise they're being so warped.
