Is it possible to cross England, say from Liverpool to London, using only rivers and the canals ?
Yes - you could run for it that journey using:
the Leeds and Liverpool canal
the Bridgewater canal
the Trent and Mersey canal
the Lordly Union canal
In fact you can travel from just north of Lancaster all the way to London by canal
lakes or rivers in london?
Hi. My dame friend just loves lakes and rivers. especially beautiful ones covered around wood land. i indigence to take her out for a day to such a place in the london area. can anybody help me out at tell me if any such places exist. and describe them if possible. thanks
one of my esteemed places are the lakes in the Lee Valley Park ... the ones north of the road between Waltham Cross and Waltham Abbey ... there are several parts of this area, have a look at http://www.leevalleypark.org.uk/en/content/cms/leisure/nature_reserves___pa/nature_reserves___pa.aspx ... it depends what you're after, there are lots of commendable walks around the lakes and along the River Lee, there's picnic spots, wildlife, and plenty of trees ... in amongst this there are individual attractions such as Waltham Abbey where it's claimed King Harold (of 1066 fame) is buried, Rye Dwelling-place which has links to the Gunpowder Plot, the farm at Hayes Hill etc
Did Julie London ever record Many Rivers To Cross?
And, if so, where can I find it?
I'm steadfast I heard it years ago, but I'm completely unable to find it now. And, in my memory at least, it was very good.
Thanks for your help.
"Cry Me A River" is what you're contemplative of, definitely. It was even featured in a bad rock n roll film just to boost sales a bit more.
"Many Rivers To Cross" was covered by many artists, even by The Animals when they had a summary reunion in the 1980s.
When you want to check on songs recorded by an artist, go to http://www.allmusic.com and once you have typed in the artist's name and brimming their page, click on the Songs tab. You will see every song they ever recorded.
Are there any cycle routes along any rivers in south london?
I reside in north london and can cycle to greenwich, bekton, wembley, paddington, notting hill, enfield, hertfordshire, ealing, along the histrionic union canal without looking over my shoulder to see if a car is behind me.
You mentioned Greenwich. Do you recollect about the Thames path? It caters for cycles as well. I live in the Limehouse area and there are signs on Narrow Street directing people/cyclists to the pathways.
It goes retaliate for along the riverside and I can walk (northside) right along the water from Island Gardens (although the path starts before then) to Wapping with the intermittent off track detour (due to stupid buildings built right up to the edge).
The paths are very wide most of the way and you could fit a car or two down the path well. Some areas have designated cycle lanes aswell.
If you're meaning further south than that I really don't recollect any other rivers other than the Thames but check out these sites for Cycle route maps.
www.londoncyclenetwork.org
and go to LCN Maps.PDF down the left hand side. There's a map there that shows canal and Thames cycleways.
another one is
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/cycles/routes/london-D-guides.shtml
where you can order cycling maps online (free I think). Alternatively you should be superior to pick them up at the London Tourist info centre (I think it's on Haymarket street, Piccadilly Circus) or from the Infomations stall in Euston station.
Also in TFL - cycles try
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/cycles/routes/leisure-routes.shtml
If you want a bird's eye feeling by satellite to 'see the path' you would be taking, search for and download the (free trial)programme for GOOGLE Clay then punch in any London postcode, zoom out so you can see the Thames then zoom back in on the river and move along it under high resolution. You should be able to see the path.
Aspire this helps to answer your question. Happy cycling!
What impact would global warming have on the thames river, london, and some of the english borders?
I imagine the official term is now "climate change" since we just endured one of the coldest winters in decades. You see worldwide warming is tied to sun activity and the sun was less active over the past year so therefore the earth slightly cooled in the past 12 months. All of the extensive warming folks quickly changed their acts to "climate change" for that reason and to not look like the idiots that they are indeed!!
