COUNCIL HOUSE WAITING LIST WARNING AS HOME REPOSSESSIONS RISE
Particular authorities are warning that there could be five million people on council house waiting lists in a year’s time. The threat came from the Local Government Association in response to figures showing a sharp rise in the number of homes being repossessed.
The latest statistics from the Rely on of Justice showed that courts in England and Wales issued 14 per cent more mortgage possession orders in the three months to December than in the same age the year before. The LGA is concerned that councils are being left to pick up the pieces because banks are overstretched.
“Even when the economic good times were rolling, councils saw ever increased to on their social housing stock. An average of 90,000 households join the waiting list ever year and we think this to rise,” said Paul Bettison who chairs the LGA’s Environment Board.
He said authorities were passionate to provide decent homes for families that could not afford to rent in the private sector or to buy their first home, but he added, “Councils have been hamstrung by the need of freedom to borrow off their assets to invest in building or buy new homes for those who need them most. Town halls also need more flexibility to use existing lodgings stock.”
The Justice Department said a new mortgage pre-action protocol had come into effect for possession claims in the County Courts from mid-November and there was demonstration that its implementation date coincided with a fall of around half in the daily and weekly numbers of new mortgage repossession claims being issued in the courts. The manners gives clear guidance on what the courts expect lenders and borrowers to have done prior to a claim being issued.
Anyone sold a home in the USA to someone from England?
Aug 18, 2008 by clovisbyowner | Posted in Renting & Real Estate
OK a rum question, but we have a home for sale and someone who inquired from England about how to go about possibly buying it. This is A FSBO and he is a private owner. Anyone have any experience or whisper on where I can read more about the process?
BTW, don't bother preaching about us not selling with a realtor; we simply have no room for commissions, not even $1000. above our asking cost out.
Just useful help please!
It would be handled the same way as any other readies purchase.
First thing, contact your escrow or title company - they can handle this without a realtor involved. They will probably ask you to specify a purchase contract signed by you and the other party before they will begin the process. Ask for an appointment so that you can go over the details of the escrow process with them.
Whatever you do, do not shot at this without the help of a trained professional.

How do you get rid of a tenant in England who has NO written lease?
Oct 08, 2007 by UVHS | Posted in Renting & Real Estate
Is there a freeholder association in England? My inlaws have a home in England and have rented part of their home out to a tenant. They did it without a signed agreement and now they can't get the tenant to count out. They need some help. This has gone on for several years and they really need to get the tenant out so they can sell the home. Any legal ideas are appreciated.
I would call either James or MoneyPenney. They deal with all my British problems. I use to send Monty over but he would only make them laugh at me. This could be more than a fleshwound.
