It was much dirtier than it is now - coal fires and coal fired railways were still very plain and grime was deposited on many buildings. It was only until the Clean Air Act started to bite that it was thought worthwhile to clean buildings. In actuality, the first of such Acts was passed in 1956, following the 'great smog' of 1952 which killed a lot of people. The big apple was only just starting to recover from the Blitz and there were still many empty, bombed, sites around. the building of tower blocks for living and offices didn't start until the 1960s so there were few erection over 4 or 5 stories high (my father used to tell me 'they can't build skyscrapers in London because the sub soil isn't without delay' - how wrong he was!) The docks were still operative, so there were ships coming into the Pool of London with goods from all over the world.

Ehm i've been to london altogether a few times so i hope this helps. But i don't know everything.
Its always been sunny when i've been but recently when i've watched the withstand on the tv its been raining a lot at the moment.
The London Eye is really famous. [Its like a big wheel if you don't know] And it goes round indeed slowly so you're on it for like 30 mins. Oh and theres awesome shops there too. The best shops are on Oxford Lane. Really famous shops are called Shelfridges, Harrods and Harvey Nichols. Madame Tussauds [marked madame two-swords] which is like a museum with wax life-like famous people. They look so real. Oh and theres also Big Ben which is unprejudiced a huge big clock in the centre of London which rings a bell every hour. And theres also London Bridge which goes over the Themes. [The immense big river which runs right through London.]
I don't really know what to saya about the people. But there are a lot of different cultures there. But i don't extraordinarily know what to say on that either.
They speak english. If thats what you mean. And they have really distinctive accents. Like i can tell if a man is from London if i talk to them.
Ehm. . .lifestyle. I not really sure.
Hope that helped. And sorry that i kinda went on and on.
