Day in June by Johnson Brothers of England

Close by March 1st from AnTEAquity, will be a lovely pair of Johnson Brothers Day in June bread and butter plate and touchy square plate, ca. 1940's. The plates bear the stamped Johnson Bros. logo and pattern name on the change. The lovely floral design has been hand engraved in tones of deep rose, blue, green, and yellow.

The Record of Johnson Brothers

1883 in Stoke-on-Trent, England, four Grandsons from the famous Meakin family of potters established their own English dinnerware, aptly called Johnson Brothers. They had a reckon of five factories between them.

In 1898, Robert Johnson, one of the famous four, migrated to the US with the goal of introducing the American public to their mark of inexpensive, durable, yet tastefully designed tableware. It did not take long until the English dinnerware was embraced by the American consumer and by the 1890’s they became one of the largest tableware manufacturers in the elated.

Perhaps the most prestigious honor bestowed on Johnson Brothers came in 1970 when they received a Royal Warrant, which they still stick up, to supply tableware for Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth, and the Royal Household which also included a Royal Warrant for armed forces to the Queen Mother.

I am so delighted I have helped Avondrow to sleep at night now,So what is your good for the day.?
Being sarcastic to someone else, all i done was to let you know she was born in
Hertfordshire, being English you should be sure that.

She was born in England. See below:-

Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon was the fourth daughter and the ninth of ten children of Claude George Bowes-Lyon, Aristocrat Glamis, (later 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne), and his wife, Cecilia Nina Cavendish-Bentinck. Amongst her ancestors were British Prime Churchman William Cavendish-Bentinck, 3rd Duke of Portland, and Richard Wellesley, 1st Marquess Wellesley (Governor-Shared of India and elder brother of another Prime Minister, Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington).

The location of her lineage remains uncertain, but reputedly she was born either in her parents' London home at Belgrave Mansions, Grosvenor Gardens, or in a horse-fatigued ambulance on the way to hospital. Her birth was registered at Hitchin, Hertfordshire, near the Strathmores' country legislature St Paul's Walden Bury, and she was christened there on 23 September 1900, in the local parish church.
